The species
Megrivirus berockdo (formerly named Megrivirus
B)
contains three genotypes, megrivirus B1 (aka mesivirus 1),
megrivirus B2 (aka mesivirus 2) and megrivirus B3CP-Apol
(aka goose megrivirus 2).
Mesiviruses have been detected in wild pigeons in
Hong Kong SAR and Hungary (Phan et al., 2013).
Origin of name mesivirus: Megrivirus
sisterclade virus.
