Rodent cardiovirus 1 is a new member of the species Cardiovirus theileri (formerly Cardiovirus B) which appears to be distinct from Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV), Vilyuisk human encephalomyelitis virus (VHEV) and Thera virus (TRV) (Wang et al., 2014).
