Rodent cardiovirus 1 is a new member of the species Cardiovirus B which appears to be distinct from Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV), Vilyuisk human encephalomyelitis virus (VHEV), Thera virus (TRV) and Saffold virus (Wang et al., 2014).
