Gallivirus A is a species in the
genus Gallivirus. Partial genome sequences of these picornaviruses
have been detected in chickens and turkeys (Farkas et al.,
2012). These virus appear to be most closely related to, but
distinct from,
passerivirus A1 (formerly
called
turdivirus 1). The
complete genome of a turkey gallivirus from Hungary has recently
been described (Boros et al., 2012).
